Nice to meet you, I’m Kara
Hi! My name is Kara and I am one of the therapists with Maple Grove Therapy and Wellness.
Have you experienced problems related to mental health, substance use, or interpersonal relationships and are wanting to feel more in control of your overall wellness? Are you a teen and/or the parents of a child or adolescent that is looking for someone who can provide guidance, challenge, and support while working to be the healthiest version of yourself? I can provide a space for you to develop healthy strategies to cope with daily stressors, increase trust that you can manage difficult emotions, and work through past events that have kept you feeling stuck.
I offer individual mental health therapy, chemical health assessments & therapy, family therapy, and couples counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with clinical experience working with children (6+), adolescents, and adults who’ve had problems related to mental health, substance use, and/or interpersonal relationships. A healthy therapeutic relationship is key in providing a safe space for individuals to work on their self-identified goals and I believe my person-centered and strengths-based approach provides a foundation of trust to help you work through any issue you believe is getting in your way!
I specialize in working with individuals with trauma, behavioral dysregulation, substance use, and unhealthy interpersonal relationship patterns that may present in PTSD, Anxiety, ADHD, Substance Use Disorder, Depression, Dissociation, Borderline Personality Disorder, etc. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches while primarily incorporating Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when working with adolescents and adults.
I also enjoy working with children (5+) and providing them and their guardians a safe space to work through any difficulties they may be experiencing at a young age. Within this population, I address concerns such as early childhood trauma, ADHD, behavioral/emotional dysregulation, anxiety, etc. while incorporating behavior modification, emotion regulation, parent coaching, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, and attachment-based therapies.
