Nice to meet you, I’m Hillary
Life can feel overwhelming, scary, confusing, and hopeless, full of emotions and unpredictable. So often, we are stuck in the past, haunted by previous experiences, weighed down by shame and guilt, or overcome by emotions. I believe everyone possesses remarkable resiliency and is passionate about helping people find their happiness, gain new skills and perspectives, understand more, and find their strength as they grow and heal.
I have experience working with all ages and specialize in working with pre-teens, adolescents, young adults, and families. I have helped support individuals and families struggling with a wide array of difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment, parenting struggles, behavioral challenges, self-esteem, ADHD, anger, school or work difficulties, and chemical dependency. My approach is strength-based, relational, and client-centered, focused on developing a supportive, respectful, and honest relationship with clients to help them move toward growth and personal empowerment. I specialize training in evidence-based therapies and trauma therapy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
My path to becoming a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker began at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While working at an inpatient treatment center, I obtained a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine’s University. I have several years of experience working with youth and their families in a day treatment and residential treatment setting with a focus on co-occurring disorders.
